Circuiting - AutoSave
Overview
AECInspire now includes AutoSave for circuiting, eliminating the need to manually save after every circuit assignment. Circuiting is the process of assigning a panel and circuit number to a device. With AutoSave, you can multi-select a group of devices, assign their panel and circuit in one action, then move straight to the next group — changes are cached and saved automatically in the background. A single Refresh at the end updates all circuit numbers across every assembly at once, keeping your workflow fast and uninterrupted.
Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1 — Select Your Devices On the sheet, highlight the devices you want to assign to a circuit. Hold the Control key to multi-select multiple devices at once.
Step 2 — Open Properties With your devices selected, open the Properties panel.
Step 3 — Navigate to the Electrical Section Scroll down within the Properties panel to locate the Electrical section.
Step 4 — Assign the Panel and Circuit Enter the panel and circuit number for the selected devices. AutoSave will cache this assignment automatically — no manual save is required.
Step 5 — Close Properties and Move to the Next Group Click Close. Your previous circuit assignments have been saved automatically in the background. You can now highlight the next group of devices and repeat Steps 2–4 without losing any prior work.
Step 6 — Continue Assigning Remaining Circuits Repeat the selection, Properties, and assignment process for each remaining group of devices. AutoSave continues caching every change as you go.
Step 7 — Hit Refresh When Done Once you have completed all circuit assignments, click Refresh. This triggers a final update across the sheet, populating the correct circuit number within each assembly all at once.
Notes & Tips
- Hold the Control key to multi-select multiple devices before opening Properties — this lets you assign the same panel and circuit to a group in a single action.
- You do not need to save between assignments. AutoSave caches every change in the background as soon as you close Properties.
- The Refresh at the end is what pushes all cached circuit numbers visibly into each assembly on the sheet — don't skip this final step.
- This workflow is particularly efficient for large bulk circuit assignments where previously each save would interrupt your momentum.
