Exporting the MC Bill of Material

1.1 Open the Quantities Tab

  • Step 1: Navigate to the Quantities tab on the left side of your screen.

1.2 Select the Wire BOM

  • Step 2: Click on the Wire BOM tab to view all wire data for the project.

1.3 Filter Data

  • Step 3: Ensure the data is filtered correctly to include only the relevant scope boxes, kits, and sheets.

1.4 Export Data

  • Step 4: Once the data is clean and organized, click on Export to generate the table.

2.1 Open Exported Data in Excel

  • Step 1: Open the exported file in Excel.

2.2 Enable Editing

  • Step 2: Click Enable Editing to allow modifications.

2.3 Create Table

  • Step 3: Click on the first cell (upper-left corner of the data) and press Ctrl + A to select all data fields.
  • Step 4: Go to the Ribbon at the top, select Format as Table, and choose a table format.
  • Step 5: Ensure the Table has Headers option is checked and click Next.

2.4 Add Total Row

  • Step 6: Add a Total Row at the bottom of the table to summarize data.

2.5 Summarize Data

  • Step 7: In the Wire Length column, choose the Sum function to get the total linear length.
  • Step 8: In the Count column (or any column with item descriptions), choose the Count function.

2.6 Display Totals at the Top

  • Step 9: Highlight the top cells where you want to display totals and select Merge and Center.
  • Step 10: Enter labels such as Total Linear Feet and Total Count.
  • Step 11: In the merged cells, enter =CellReference to link the totals from the bottom of the table to the top.

  • Step 1: Click anywhere in the table, go to Table Design in the ribbon, and select Insert Slicer.

3.2 Choose Slicer Fields

3.3 Arrange Slicers

  • Step 3: Arrange slicers on the side for easy access and use.

3.4 Apply Filters

  • Step 4: Use slicers to filter data by area, scope box, or wire length.
  • Step 5: Multi-select by clicking the button next to Clear Filters to select multiple scope boxes.
