How to use Inspired Search (10:00)

This training video offers a detailed walkthrough of the 'Inspired Search' tool on the AEC platform. It explains how to set up searches, adjust accuracy, select project sheets, and conduct quality assurance and control.

Detailed Step-by-Step Training Process for Using Inspired Search

1. Opening Inspired Search

  • Navigate to Inspired Search: Access Inspired Search by clicking on its icon located in the left toolbar on the AEC platform’s main dashboard.

2. Conducting a Search

  • Identifying Symbols or Text:
    • Locate Symbols/Text: Use the search bar to enter the symbols or specific text you want to find across your project sheets.
    • Limit Your Search: Initially, focus on 3-5 symbols or text tags to keep the process manageable. You can expand this number as you gain more familiarity with the tool.

3. Adjusting Search Accuracy

  • Default Accuracy Setting: Start with the medium setting, which is the default and most commonly effective level.
  • Fine-Tuning Accuracy:
    • Increase Accuracy: If you encounter too many false positives during QA, increase the accuracy to raise the acceptance threshold, reducing false matches.
    • Decrease Accuracy: If the search is missing potential matches, decrease the accuracy to broaden the search scope, useful for messier drawings.
  • Rule of Thumb: Use the outcomes from the QA phase as indicators for whether to adjust the accuracy settings.

4. Defining Search Scope

  • Selecting Sheets for Search:
    • Locate Sheet Selection: View the section displaying project sheets, each with a preview image along with its number and title.
    • Choose Sheets: Click the preview image of the sheet(s) you want to search, confirming selection visually.

5. Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC)

  • Reviewing Results:
    • Colored Confidence Indicators: Each identified symbol or text will be marked with colored dots (green, yellow, red) to indicate confidence levels:
      • Green Dots: High confidence; minimal review needed.
      • Yellow Dots: Medium confidence; check for accuracy.
      • Red Dots: Low confidence; requires thorough verification.
  • Manual Adjustments:
    • Correcting Mismatches: Manually add or correct mismatches directly on the project sheet.
    • Adding Symbols Manually: Include any symbols or text not identified by the initial search.
  • Saving and Applying Counter Objects:
    • Final Review: Conduct a final review to ensure all symbols are verified and adjustments made.
    • Save Changes: Click the ‘Save’ button, which then applies Counter objects and yellow tags indicating the counter names on each identified symbol.
