IQ Skills – Breaker Counts (2:08)
Overview
This video walks through a single IQ Skill — electrical panel schedule analysis and circuit breaker extraction. Instead of prompting IQ two or three times to get your breaker counts, you run one prepackaged skill that reads every panel schedule in the project, identifies each panel, lists the breakers inside it, and returns a summary count of every breaker type per panel. Because the output links straight back to the panel schedule sheet, you can spot check the counts against the drawing without leaving IQ.

Before You Begin
The skill reads what is in the project, so the panel schedule sheets need to be uploaded before you run it. Open the project and let IQ finish loading it — IQ has to learn the project before it can return accurate answers.
Expect the skill to take longer on larger projects. A project with a lot of panels gives the skill more panel schedules to extract and more breakers to count.
Part 1 — Open the IQ Skills Area
- Open IQ on the project you want to analyze.
- In the chat window, look to the upper right corner.
- Click the IQ Skills button.
- Confirm the blue background appears. The blue background is the system telling you that you are in the skills area rather than the standard chat.
- With the skills area open, scroll to the last skill in the list: electrical panel schedule analysis and circuit breaker extraction.
- Click the skill to start the process.
- Leave the skill running once you kick it off.
- Expect anywhere from 30 seconds to a couple of minutes, depending on how large the project is.
- Scroll up in the response to the first step.
- Review the panel-level data the skill extracted.
- Scroll down to your first distribution panel.
- Review the list of all the different breakers in that panel, including what they're powering.
- Underneath that list, find the breaker count validation section. This is your count table.
- Locate the yellow link underneath the count table.
- Click the yellow link.
- The system highlights that table on the panel schedule sheet for you.
- Cross reference the highlighted table against the breaker counts the skill returned.
- Spot check the counts to make sure the breaker counts are correct.
Note: The blue background is your visual confirmation that the next thing you click will run a prepackaged skill, not a free-form prompt.

Part 3 — Let the Skill Run
Note: A project with a lot of panels will run for a little while. The run time scales with project size — more panel schedules means more extraction and more counting.
Part 4 — Read the Panel Extraction Step
The first step of the skill's output is the panel-level extraction. This is the roll-up of every panel found in the set.

Best practice: Read the first step before diving into individual panels. It gives you the full panel list with ratings in one view, which is the fastest way to confirm the skill found every panel in the set.

Part 6 — Cross-Reference the Counts on the Panel Schedule Sheet
The count table is only half the value. The link underneath it takes you back to the drawing so you can verify the numbers against the source.
Best practice: Spot check at least a few panels against the highlighted panel schedule before you use the counts downstream. The yellow link is built for exactly this cross-referencing pass.
