How to Use Inspired Query (IQ) in AECInspire

Inspired Query (IQ) allows you to have a natural language conversation with your AECInspire project. Whether you're extracting data from drawings or analyzing quantities across your sheets, IQ helps you quickly find, structure, and export the information you need.


🔑 Getting Started with IQ

1. Open IQ

  • Click the IQ button in the lower-left corner of the AECInspire screen.

  • The first time you open IQ in a new project, it may take a few moments to process the sheets.

  • After processing, IQ becomes fully responsive and ready for immediate prompting.

2. Understand the Layout

  • Left Side Drawer: Contains your Favorite Prompts and Chat History.

    • You can minimize this drawer to maximize space for your prompt area.

  • New Chat Button: Click this to start a fresh conversation with IQ.

3. Using Default Prompts

  • IQ includes five built-in prompts to help you get started.

  • Click any default prompt to automatically populate and run it in the chat.


⭐ Favorite Prompts

4. Save and Organize Reusable Prompts

  • Click into Favorite Prompts from the left drawer.

  • You’ll see an empty list at first — this is where you can add your own custom prompts.

5. Add a New Favorite Prompt

  • Click “Add Prompt”.

  • Enter your prompt text.

  • Choose between:

    • Document Search (for drawings, specs, folders)

    • Placed Quantity Search (for assembly and BOM queries)

  • Click “Save Prompt”.

6. Run a Saved Prompt

  • Select a saved prompt from your list.

  • It will appear in the chat window and run when you hit enter.


🔍 Search Types

7. Choose Where to Search

You can toggle between these three options:

  • Document Search: Searches your floor plans, specs, and other uploaded folders.

  • Placed Quantity Search: Searches the placed items on your project sheets.

  • Entire Project: Runs prompts across all drawings, sheets, and folders.


📋 Reviewing Results

8. Working with Tables

  • IQ responses may include tables for your data.

  • You can:

    • Reorder columns to match your preference.

    • Filter data using the three-line (hamburger) menu to show only what you need.

    • Copy individual lines or full tables to paste into Excel or Word.

9. Exporting Tables

  • For Placed Quantity Searches, you can export the entire table as a pre-formatted Excel file.

  • This export will maintain the column structure and formatting.


📄 Citing Sources

10. View Where IQ Got the Data

  • Click the Sources Tab in the response.

  • IQ will show which drawing or folder the information came from.

    • Note: You must have the correct folder open in Inspire to view the source.

11. Pop Out IQ into a Separate Window

  • Use the Pop-Out button to open IQ in a new browser tab.

  • Ideal for users working with multiple monitors.

12. Copy Entire Responses

  • Use the Copy Text button to copy all text in the result.

  • Paste into your own documentation, emails, or reports.
