Lighting #4 - Scopeboxing and Kitting (6:19)

Overview

This guide details the advanced process of creating kits and scope boxes within AEC Inspire for more precise management and export of project areas.

1. Accessing the Scope Box Tab

  • Step 1: Open Scope Box Tab
    • Navigate to the Scope Box tab located on the upper left side of the screen.
2. Creating a Scope Box
  • Step 2: Define a New Scope Box
    • Click on the Scope Box tab and then Add a New Scope Box.
    • Name your scope box (e.g., Area 1).
    • Check for Duplicates: Click the check button to ensure the name is unique.
    • Assign a Color: Choose a color to differentiate scope boxes visually.

3. Drawing the Scope Box

  • Step 3: Draw the Scope Box
    • Choose the Polygon Tool to draw irregular areas or Rectangle Tool for simpler shapes.
    • Click to outline the perimeter of the area.
    • Complete the Shape: Press Enter to finalize the scope box.
    • Adjust as Needed: You can adjust points by clicking and dragging them.
4. Saving and Managing Scope Boxes
  • Step 4: Save the Scope Box
    • Click Save to lock in the scope box.
    • Use the Move Tool if you need to reposition the entire scope box.
    • Edit Points: Adjust individual points if further fine-tuning is needed.
5. Assigning Scope Boxes to Counters
  • Step 5: Verify Scope Box Assignment
    • Select a counter inside the scope box.
    • Right-click and choose Properties.
    • Check that the Scope Box field is populated with the scope box name (e.g., Area 1).
6. Viewing Scope Box Data
  • Step 6: Check Quantities Tab
    • Go to the Quantities tab.
    • Sort by Scope Box: Sort the table to see counts divided by scope boxes.
    • View specific counts for the area defined by each scope box (e.g., A2 fixtures, motion sensors, X1 fixtures).
7. Creating Additional Scope Boxes
  • Step 7: Add More Scope Boxes
    • Follow the same steps to create additional scope boxes (e.g., Area 2).
    • Assign names and colors, draw the perimeter, and save.
8. Exporting Data for Specific Areas
  • Step 8: Filter and Export
    • Use the Filter Tool in the Quantities tab to isolate counts by specific scope boxes.
    • Export Data: Export the filtered counts to get detailed data for each area.
9. Rolling Up Counts
  • Step 9: Aggregate Counts Across Sheets
    • To aggregate counts, remove the Scope Box column using the Column Browser.
    • This will roll up counts to show overall totals for each fixture type without scope box details.
10. Tips for Effective Use
  • Use Colors: Assign different colors to scope boxes for better visualization.
  • Adjust as Needed: Fine-tune scope boxes to fit specific project areas or fixture kits.
  • Export Flexibly: Use the filter and export tools to manage detailed or aggregated counts as needed.
