16_Live Sheet Schedules: Adding and Filtering Tables on Your Sheets (3:55)
Overview
Place a table of quantities directly on a floor plan sheet in AECinspire, then filter it to show only the devices you need. This Quick Start video walks through building a count table from assembly fields, placing it on the sheet, and filtering it to show in-wall devices only. It is for anyone detailing or counting on sheets who would otherwise build a legend in Bluebeam, a schedule in Revit, or paste an Excel table onto the drawing.
What you'll learn
- Open the Add Table tool and name a table
- Drag fields from the assembly parameter list into the table
- Choose fields for both assemblies and counter objects
- Reorder the table columns before placing
- Place the table on the sheet
- Filter the table by Device Group or Parameter Color
- Understand how placed tables update as you keep detailing
Before You Begin
Open the floor plan sheet where the table should go. Place your assemblies or counter objects first: the table reads values from objects already on the sheet. An empty sheet gives you an empty table.
Part 1 — Start a New Table
- On the left-hand toolbar, click Add Table.
- Enter a name in the table name field. The video uses Counts.
- From the Device fields, drag in Device Count. This column holds your quantities.
- From the Device fields, drag in Device Symbol.
- Scroll down to the Label fields and drag in Label.
- Drag in Name.
- Drag in Parameter Color.
- Drag the fields on the right-hand side into the order you want the columns to appear.
- For this example, order the columns Parameter Color, Device Count, Label, Name, Device Symbol.
- Click Place.
- Click on the sheet where the table should go. The table sizes itself to fit its contents.
- Check the Name column. It shows NA on a sheet that has only assemblies.
- With the table open, click the Filter button.
- In the filter panel, select Device Group.
- Check In Wall to include only that group and exclude the junction boxes.
- Click Apply.
- Click Retry to draw the filtered table onto the sheet again. (Retry is the word the narrator uses; the label on your screen may differ.)
- Confirm that the table lists only the objects included by the filter.
- Save the table.
The field list on the left shows the parameters stored in your assemblies. The steps below use these fields to build a basic count table.
Part 2 — Choose the Table Fields
To add a field, drag it from the list on the left into the right-hand side of the interface.
Note: Parameter Color is the layer color that the devices and objects sit on.
Best practice: Include both Label and Name when a sheet mixes assemblies and counter objects. Assemblies fill the Label column, and counter objects used for general counts fill the Name column.

Part 3 — Set the Column Order
Note: The narrator mentions additional table options on this screen but does not demonstrate them.
Part 4 — Place the Table on the Sheet
Note: NA in the Name column is expected when the sheet has no counter objects. Once you place counter objects, their names appear in that column.
Part 5 — Filter the Table
The example table initially includes junction boxes. Follow these steps to limit it to in-wall devices.
Other filter options include Parameter Color, a specific panel, or a specific device name group. Choose the field that matches how your objects are organized.
|
Filter by |
Use it when |
|
Device Group |
You need one assembly group, such as In Wall, without junction boxes |
|
Parameter Color |
Your objects are separated by layer |
|
Panel |
You need the devices on one panel |
|
Device name group |
You need one group of devices by name |
Part 6 — Save the Live Table
Note: Placed tables are live. After saving, the counts update automatically as you continue detailing and changing assemblies. You do not need to rebuild or edit the table to update those counts.

Troubleshooting
|
Issue |
Resolution |
|
Name column shows NA |
Expected on a sheet with only assemblies. Name fills in from counter objects. Keep the field if you mix counters with assemblies. |
|
Label column is empty for some rows |
Those rows are likely counter objects. Their identifier appears in Name. |
|
Table includes junction boxes you do not want |
Click Filter, choose Device Group, check only In Wall, click Apply, and draw the table again. |
|
Filtered table did not change on the sheet |
After Apply, draw the table again so the filter takes effect. |
|
Table is empty |
Place assemblies or counter objects on the sheet first. The table reads from what is on the sheet. |
