v2.22.1 Release

AECInspire Release Notes

AECInspire v2.22.1 introduces significant workflow improvements focused on reducing repetitive actions, increasing AI-driven automation, and improving placement precision. This release enhances editing efficiency, expands Smart Count capabilities, and simplifies document management.

These updates are designed to help teams move faster through estimation and design workflows while maintaining accuracy across large projects.

Enhancements & Improvements

1. Multi-Assembly & Connection Properties Auto-Save

Overview

Users can now edit properties across multiple assemblies and connections without manually saving after each edit. Changes are automatically saved as you move between selections.

Key Capabilities

  • Edit properties across multiple assemblies

  • Edit connection properties across selections

  • Move between different assemblies without saving each change

  • Continue editing while switching between tools or tabs

  • All edits are automatically saved together

Previous Workflow

Users were previously required to follow a repetitive cycle:

Edit → Save → Select New Assemblies → Edit → Save

This slowed workflows, especially when updating hundreds of assemblies in larger projects.

Benefits

  • Faster bulk editing workflows

  • Reduced risk of missed saves

  • Smoother editing experience across assemblies

  • Improved productivity in large-scale projects

2. AI-Powered Smart Detection (Smart-PD & Smart-LF) – Limited Beta

Overview

AECInspire now introduces AI-powered symbol detection for electrical devices and lighting fixtures.

The system automatically detects and counts symbols within drawings using AI models designed specifically for electrical construction documents.

This capability powers a new generation of Smart Count workflows, currently available as a limited beta release.

Detection Types

  • Smart-PD – Power Device detection

  • Smart-LF – Lighting Fixture detection

Improvements Included

  • Improved Smart Count state management

  • Enhanced UI controls for detection workflows

  • Automatic Smart-LF and Smart-PD population

  • Increased symbol recognition accuracy

Beta Access

The AI-powered Smart Detection experience is currently being rolled out as a limited beta program.

Users can request access to participate in early testing.

Important Notes

  • Beta access is limited

  • Requests are reviewed and approved based on availability

  • Early users can help shape future Smart Count improvements

Benefits

  • Higher detection accuracy

  • Reduced manual symbol counting

  • Faster takeoff workflows

  • Improved confidence in Smart Count results

3. Smart Count Progress Saving

Overview

Users can now save Smart Count progress during an active session and resume later without losing work.

Key Capabilities

  • Save Smart Count sessions mid-review

  • Resume from the exact previous state

  • Retain searched symbols and reviewed changes

  • Continue counting across multiple sessions

Problem Solved

Previously, Smart Count had to be completed in a single session. If interrupted, users had to restart the process.

This was especially problematic for:

  • Large drawings

  • Long review sessions

  • Field interruptions

Important Notes

Saved Smart Count sessions:

  • Expire after 24 hours

  • Are cleared after a hard refresh

Benefits

  • Greater flexibility during reviews

  • Reduced rework on large drawings

  • Improved workflow continuity

4. Default Height & Layer Assignment for Assemblies

Overview

Users can now define default height and layer values for assemblies within the default value settings.

These defaults automatically apply whenever assemblies are placed.

Applies To

Default values are applied during:

  • Manual placement

  • Smart Count placement

  • Auto placement

  • Switch / Replace operations

Previous Workflow

Users previously had to manually set height and layer values after placing assemblies, which created repetitive work and increased the risk of inconsistencies.

Benefits

  • Reduced manual data entry

  • Improved consistency across placements

  • Faster assembly placement workflows

  • Increased prefab accuracy

5. Supplier Wire BOM Enhancements

Overview

The Supplier Wire Bill of Materials (BOM) has been enhanced with additional columns and improved grid functionality.

New Columns Added

  • Circuit

  • Sheet Annotation Tag

  • Assembly Code

Additional Improvements

  • Column order now aligns with Itemized Wire BOM

  • New columns included in Supplier Wire BOM exports

  • Full AG Grid functionality now supported

Grid Features

Users can now:

  • Filter columns

  • Sort columns

  • Pin columns

  • Hide columns

Benefits

  • Improved supplier coordination

  • Reduced need for cross-referencing

  • Better procurement clarity

6. Specification & Document Upload Workflow

Overview

A new upload workflow has been introduced specifically for specification and document files.

These files are now treated differently from drawing uploads.

New Behavior

Specification uploads now:

  • Skip OCR processing

  • Do not extract sheet numbers

  • Do not create versioned drawing sets

  • Allow multiple documents within folders

Previous Behavior

Previously, all uploads followed the drawing workflow which triggered:

  • OCR processing

  • Sheet extraction

  • Versioning on re-upload

This caused confusion when uploading specification files.

Benefits

  • Cleaner document management

  • Reduced incorrect versioning

  • Clear separation between drawings and specifications

7. Assembly & Linear Dimension Snapping

Overview

Assemblies and linear dimensions now automatically snap into perfect horizontal and vertical alignment relative to existing placements.

Applies To

Snapping behavior works with:

  • Standard assemblies

  • Linear assemblies

  • Linear dimensions

  • Move operations

Previous Behavior

Previously:

  • No snapping behavior existed

  • Manual nudging was required

  • Minor misalignments were common

Benefits

  • Cleaner layouts

  • Faster placement workflows

  • Improved visual accuracy

  • Better installation and prefab planning
